Robert Redford has passed away at the age of 89.

The Hollywood star, known for his award-winning films, was found unresponsive in his Utah home on September 16, 2025. The news broke just less than a week after the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

Redford was known for his appearances in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Way We Were, and The Sting. He also produced numerous films, including All the President’s Men, The Milagro Beanfield War, and A River Runs Through It.

Throughout his career, Redford won several awards, including Best Actor in a Leading Role in 1970 for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and Best Director in 1980 for Ordinary People.

Co-star Dustin Hoffman expressed his sadness about Redford’s passing. “Working with Redford on All the President’s Men was one of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had. He was that rare person where what you see is what you get: the decency he projected in his movies was genuine. I’ll miss him.”

Another co-star of Redford, Barbra Streisand, also commented on his recent passing. In an Instagram post, she wrote, “The last time I saw him, when he came to lunch, we discussed art and decided to send each other our first drawings. He was one of a kind and I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with him.”

While no official cause of death has been announced, it’s assumed Redford passed away peacefully in his sleep.
