Over the weekend, Angelina Jolie was asked about her fears “as an artist and an American.”
“It is a very difficult question,” Jolie responded while at a film festival in Spain.
“I love my country, but at this time, I don’t recognize my country. I’ve always lived internationally, my family is international, my friends, my life.”
She then delved into the current controversy of free speech in the United States.
“My worldview is equal, united, and international. Anything anywhere that divides or limits personal expressions and freedoms from anyone, I think, is very dangerous,” she said.
Jolie hints at recent events, like Jimmy Kimmel being kicked from ABC after controversial comments following the death of Charlie Kirk.
While Kimmel’s ban was lifted by the Disney-owned network, his show continues to be “canceled” by others.
“These are such serious times that we have to be careful not to say things casually. These are very, very heavy times we are living in together,” Jolie said.
